THEATRE WASHINGTON: @sarah-colatriano
Sarah is a recent graduate of the College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, VA), and received her Bachelors in May 2025 as a double-major in theatre and computer science. Sarah is primarily a stage manager and is working toward a career in stage management, but she has a wide-ranging background in multiple departments of technical theatre, namely scenic carpentry, lighting, and props.
Sarah likes to joke that she "stumbled into stage management and never left." In the fall semester of her sophomore year of college, a frustrating course registration day left her in a stagecraft class to fulfill a gen-ed requirement, and subsequently Sarah found herself on the run crew of a dance concert---her first time working in a theater since a summer camp in middle school. A lack of stage managers quickly got her promoted to PSM, and with lots of guidance from her professors, she quickly learned the ropes and fell in love with the work.
From there, Sarah took every tech opportunity she could, finding lots of work with both the Theatre Department and W&M's student-run theater groups. Sarah found herself booked full with projects, even over Winter Break. The summer after her sophomore year (less than a year after taking Stagecraft), she was a carpentry apprentice with Wolf Trap Opera Company, and the rest is history.
In her first year out of undergrad, Sarah is a Stage Management Intern with Florida Repertory Theater (Fort Myers).
